I look to classical landscape photography as a historically masculine form, often tied to exploration, conquest, and the assertion of authority over both space and narrative. By engaging with this tradition, I confront these associations directly in my own work, examining how to be guilty of desire and longing to inscribe my own presence in a vast world. I am drawn to the tension between the historical weight of the medium and my own embodied, queer perspective, hence the photographs I create hold a tension and contrast in them. I am in love with the intensity and drama of the natural world and find it reflects the constant push and pull and strength of my own humanity.
